Laruga Glaser
Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga Yoga Teacher
July 18 to 29, 2017
Ortigas Studio

Since a young age Laruga has been fascinated with mind/body connections and spiritual thought which later attracted her to the practice of yoga in 1996 after a sincere connection and study of yoga philosophy. It was not until she stumbled upon Ashtanga yoga when she began the journey, immersing herself into a devoted practice a few years later in 1998. Since then, she has continued to draw inspiration from her daily visit to the mat, along with long term studies of Ashtanga Yoga at KPJAYI in Mysore, India, practicing under the guidance of the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and who she considers her principle teacher and guide, his grandson R. Sharath Jois. Laruga has made 11 trips to KPJAYI and began her studies there after already 10 years of established practice.

An advanced level practitioner and student of yoga as well as a Level 2 Authorized Teacher, Laruga entered into teaching after years of sustained practice and brings with her a combined total over 25 years experience instructing body movement. In turn, she is dedicated to teaching the method of Ashtanga yoga to its fullest capacity, cultivating transparency to the tradition, and the deeply rich lineage the practice originates, otherwise known as parampara. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential.

Currently Laruga directs the Ashtanga Yoga program at Yogayama in Stockholm, Sweden and teaches workshops and retreats internationally. (www.larugayoga.com)

Intermediate Series Part 2
Intermediate Series in Detail
Nādī Śhodana

Intermediate Series, otherwise known as nādī śhodana, meaning nervous system cleansing, builds upon the culmination of energy and purification within the practitioner built from the foundation of Primary Series. With deeper backbends and forward bends as well as arm balances, the Intermediate series integrates the use of opposing forces to garner greater unity and strength, both mental and physical, opening the internal light of awareness within each individual.

In this workshop special attention will be focused on the in depth study of each posture, their relationship to each other as well as executing the proper vinyasas and transitions, with special attention to all points of Tristhānam (posture, breath, drishte) throughout the practice. In addition, there will be time taken to trouble shoot areas of difficulty to gather skills to then move forward in the practice with greater intelligence and awareness. Whether new to the practice of Intermediate Series, or an experienced practitioner, this workshop will invoke new insights and inspire your already existing practice.

Awakening the Core: Bandhas, Breath, and More

In this workshop become more intimately rooted to the internal network of the bandhas while tuning to the central axis of the body. Properly understanding how to engage the bandhas not only bring lightness to the body but also stability and clarity to the mind. Learn to become more closely connected to this often elusive and mysterious part of the practice of Ashtanga yoga, appropriate for all levels.

The Art of Ashtanga Yoga and Injury Prevention 2:30-5:00pm

Through consistent practice our time on the mat can develop into a work of art, creating stillness in motion. Reaching a flow state in the practice comes from uniting all internal elements to then rest in awareness within our physical being. In this workshop we will explore how to create depth in the practice creating art in motion, while developing conscious attention and strength throughout the body, mind and soul. We will first start by cutting away excess energy draining movements as well as connecting to the downward and upward flow of energy to then sit in a space of simplicity and concentration. This will be an inspiring workshop giving space to explore and express the beauty of yoga in every movement and every breath. In addition, we will touch on how to maintain awareness throughout the growth of one’s practice to prevent injury studying trouble areas such as the shoulders, knees and lower back.
